Summary

Traditional pathway / variance documentation systems have several deficiencies that create several problems for those of you running them.

These problems can impede the data collection process, diminish data quality, lengthen report cycles, even shutdown the entire variance system.

Over the next few weeks we will discuss strategies for overcoming these issues.

The best advice when it comes to variance data:

To get more information, collect less data

Use the process and statistical thinking tools in the next two weeks to really know your processes and what drives them, for better or for worse. Then collect only that data.

Now, a word from the lawyers.
