Overview

In this week's session we will address the most serious issues in variance management system design. Those issues fall into three major categories:

  • Statistical - Limitations our ability to analyze variance data and make meaningful process improvements.
  • Operational - Issues that hinder the data collection and reporting process.
  • Legal - Everybody's favorite: how to use, or not use, variance data in legal settings. Advice from a Boston lawyer (the meanest kind ;-) ).

We will then wrap-up the discussion with a hint at next week's material where we will begin to address these issues. And, of course, plenty of opportunity for you to critique, disparage, praise or otherwise question and comment on the material and the course itself.

Let's go!
