Simulation PageRobert Luttman & Associates has been developing and using computer simulation models in healthcare for 20 years. We are now offering some of our models for your use. Use these models to learn about performance improvement techniques, experiment with your own processes, or simply learn a little bit about simulation technology. The models below were developed using Extend from Imagine That, Inc. To use the models you need the FREE Reader version of Extend. Please note that Extend web pages change from time to time; if the Reader link fails use the main Imagine That link above. Once you have the software installed you can use the view the models, change the input parameters, run simulations, and get results. You cannot change the model, any of the programming, or print the model. Current models (if you have any trouble downloading these files, email me and I'll email a copy to you) Simple.mox - A simple one-step request fulfillment process. Customers (or orders, or things, etc.) arrive, get processed, and leave. Very simple, but you can apply the results to countless processes in your organization: clinic check-in, medical records requests, lab requests, etc. You can change the arrival rate, the service time, and the staffing levels. Get results for time in the waiting line, average number of customers waiting, maximum waiting time, maximum line length, and percent of time there was a line. Coming soon: EDSim: A simulation of an emergency department. From patient arrival to discharge (to inpatient bed or home) including amublance and walk-in patients. Vary triage nurses, ED nurses, reception staff, MD's staffing levels and activity times. Vary lab and radiology turnaround times. RxSim: Outpatient, group practice pharmacy process. From order drop-off / phone-in to customer pick-up. |
