Volunteer Needed for Senior Tax Assistance

Seniors -- Help Request

Medfield Council on Aging

AARP runs a free, volunteer run tax assistance and preparation service. Many of our senior clients rely on these services to prepare their taxes. However, these are limited to simple returns. In addition a local CPA volunteers his time to help in this effort. The Medfield volunteer who has given his assistance for many years would like to retire and train someone new for next year. Qualifications for this would include computer literacy and an ability to file taxes. You do not need to be a CPA and the IRS provides a software program for your use. If this type of work appeals to you and you would like to help your community seniors, please contact Susan Bernstein at 508-359-3665 or volunteermedfieldcoa@gmail.com

Shaw's Register Tapes

Seniors -- News

Shaw's Register Tapes
****************

In 2008 SHAW's Supermarkets offered a program where by saving the register tapes of your grocery purchases you could turn them in to an organization of your choice resulting in SHAWS returning !% to the organization. Friends of Medfield Seniors/FOSI earned a generous amount of money that enabled us to return the bulk of it for use by Medfield's Council on Aging at The Center here in Medfield. In 2009 SHAW.s changed the program and went in a different direction. It was to be a simpler program by submitting your SHAW,s card at the register it would automatically credit the non profit organization. There were snags that created a lot of angry voices directed at FOSI and myself and a direct turnaround with our ability to receive financial help from SHAWS. We are back on track and if you are not participating let me help to get you back. Do a Google and go to SHAWS Community Rewards. Log in or register .....give your card number and phone number for verification. Specify affiliation number 49001018141 for Friends of Medfield Seniors. Unfortunately Tuesday, Wednesday and Thuirsday are the only shopping days that your grocery purchases will be credited to FOSI. Thanks for your continued help.

Thanks from Friends of Seniors for a Successful Yard Sale

Seniors -- News

Friends of Seniors

Friends of Medfield Seniors/FOSI wishes to thank all who helped make our recent "YARD SALE" at The Center at Medfield another successful event. It will help The Council on Aging with the financial support of FOSI to continue offering beneficial programs to Medfield's seniors despite the recent slashing of $$$$$ from the COA's budget.

A carefully selected grouping of unique items from the Yard Sale are still available while they last in the foyer of The Center on Ice House Road. Drop in from 9am to 4pm and find a surprise at a fraction of what the original price was. Happy Hunting.

****************
Friends of Medfield Seniors/FOSI is happy to report that the long awaited equipment for the Health/Medical room at The Center has been received and has been installed. Take the time to see what your contributions to FOSI has accomplished at no cost to the Medfield taxpayers. In the past 2 years we have contributed with the help of many over $23,000 to equip and furnish the very active Center on Ice House Road.

As reported the Shaws / Fosi save your register tapes program has been discontinued. A new simple program as reported is now available by going to FOSI's web site at www.fosi-seniors.org and following the link to SHAWS registration proceedure. Thanks for your continued support.
