Your Medfield High School Boosters would like to welcome everyone back to the new school year!!

Medfield High School Boosters, Inc. is the nonprofit volunteer fundraising organization which provides: Academic, Athletic and Co-curricular support to all students and staff of Medfield High School. We encourage anyone interested in learning more about Medfield High School Boosters to attend our first fall meeting this Wednesday, September 8th @ 7pm in the Library Media Center of the High School. There are many volunteer opportunities available. New faces are always welcome!!

September is MHS Boosters Membership Drive Month. MHS Boosters is the CSA for grades 9 - 12. We count on your support!! We'll try to keep all our friends up to date at a glance with the many exciting Boosters events happening at MHS.

First of note .... Our Student Athletes have been hard at work. Join us for dinner at the Italian Groceria Night to Benefit Girls Soccer this Tuesday, September 7th from 5-8pm. Take a night off from KP duty and support our MHS Girls Soccer Program. 30% of all sales will directly benefit the team. For convenience, SCRIP will be available from 5-7pm. Go Warriors !!

Medfield Cable Access TV

Medfield TV Workshops for Students Begin September 13th

Medfield.TV is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a workshop on sports broadcasting in conjunction with Young Broadcasters of America four times this fall and winter. In order to cover all local sports teams at the High School, The Medfield Cable Access channel uses volunteer announcers and camera people. This is a great way to train volunteers while promoting an interest in broadcast communication.

Four six-hour sessions are scheduled at for an Introduction to Broadcast Communication workshop that will be taught by YBA instructors. The first session begins September 13 and continues Mondays through the 27th. Session II runs October 4, 18, and 25, a third session will be held in November on the first through 15th and the last session will be on November 29, and December 6 and 13. All workshops will be held at the Medfield.TV studio in the Medfield High School on Mondays from 4-6 PM

Jimmy Young, formerly of NECN, WBZ-TV 4 and WGME-TV in Portland Maine, founder and President of YBA said "We are excited to come to Medfield because parents in that community are always looking to give their kids an edge and we can provide that for them with our exclusive oral communication curriculum. Basically we teach generation text how to communicate using TV broadcast skills."

The workshops will include delivering the broadcast script using YBA's I.P.I.E curriculum for voice articulation, inflection, pronunciation, intonation and enunciation. It also will teach proper use of the teleprompter, techniques for interviewing, how to host their own shows and studio announcing. In the words of Young, "In an era where young people are more comfortable communicating through technology rather than face to face, we use the TV camera to show them how the world sees and hears them. Think ESPN Sportscenter for Kids or Entertainment Tonight for Kids by Kids."

Celebrate National Grandparents Day Sunday by sharing your love of the outdoors with your children and grandchildren. Every generation welcomed! We'll begin with a book reading followed by a stroll through the woods with a ranger. Then enjoy a snack while listening to folksinger and storyteller Tim Van Egmond! End the day by making a craft to bring home or give to a loved one. Jogging strollers welcome!

Destination Imagination

Destination Imagination Registration, September 14th

MEDFIELD DESTINATION IMAGINATION REGISTRATION. Destination Imagination (DI) registration will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at the Medfield High School Library Media Center from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. At 6:45 PM the Medfield DI Board will do a short presentation with information about the program.

Do you like to design, build, paint, act or compose? Join Destination Imagination (DI). DI rewards imaginative and "out of the box" thinking. DI incorporates brainstorming, spontaneous problem resolution and long term project management to solve a particular challenge within a specified time and budget. Students design and create all technical devices, artistic elements and storylines necessary to bring their solution to life. Teams of 5-7 students from Wheelock, Dale Street, Blake and the high achool will showcase their unique solution to DI Challenges at the Regional Tournament held on March 19, 2011 at Medfield High School. Last year, Medfield sponsored nine elementary teams, three middle school teams and four high school teams, one of the largest groups in the state. Eight Medfield teams received top regional scores to earn a place at the DI State Tournament. One Medfield team was named a Massachusetts State Champion and advanced to the DI Global Tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee where the team placed 6th in its division.
