Schools and Family News(Print Version)The NewsGirl Scouts Girl Scouts Bring Smiles to Boston's Floating Hospital for Children Category: Kids -- Subcategory: News To earn their Silver Award, the second highest honor a Girl Scout can achieve, five Medfield 8th grade Girl Scouts from Troop 74900 collected used DVDs and character Band- Aids to entertain the children at Boston's Floating Hospital for Children, part of Tufts Medical Center. After learning that the hospital had just gotten a new DVD player but had very few DVDs, the girls went to work, putting up boxes and flyers around town to collect used DVDs for the hospital. At the same time they collected fun character Band-Aids, which make the children smile after they get a shot. The project was a huge success. The girls collected more than 300 G, PG, and PG-13 rated DVDs and filed them in DVD binders for the hospital's Child Life Center.
